He is one of the founding members of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria (SCSN), where he has played a pivotal role in extending the Council’s presence and influence among Muslim communities in the South-South and across the southern region of the country.
Originating from Cross River State, Alhaji Mikail Etim Asuquo developed a deep commitment to Islamic service from an early stage, combining religious learning with active community engagement. His leadership qualities and dedication to the Muslim Ummah led to his emergence as a key figure in Islamic affairs within his state and beyond. He has been actively involved in structured Islamic initiatives, including participation in national religious coordination activities such as moon-sighting committees and other platforms that require credibility, trust, and scholarly discretion.
At the national level, he has served as a delegate within the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, reflecting his recognition as a representative voice of Muslims from his region in Nigeria’s apex Islamic body. His involvement at this level underscores his role as a bridge between grassroots Muslim communities in southern Nigeria and national Islamic leadership structures.
